Prep Your Nails
Acrylic nails are ideally applied on clean and smooth nails. So you can start off by removing any old nail polish you might have on, as well as trimming your nails. Buffing and filing your nails is also a good idea, this will make sure the new acrylic nails you put on have a smooth solid base to stick to. Also push back your cuticles if you have any, the cleaner and smoother the nails, the better the end result.
If you happen to have old acrylic nails on you and want to change them, make sure to soak them in pure acetone first, this will soften them up and make it easier to remove them.
Apply a Nail Primer
Now that your nails are smooth and clean you need to apply an acrylic nail primer. You can easily find this product in any good nail supply store Orlando. This will help remove any excess oils or moisture on your nails, that might prevent your acrylic nails from sticking.
This step is most crucial so make sure you don’t skip that. Also, keep note that a nail primer might be harsh on your skin so make sure to use a cotton pad while applying and prevent it from touching your skin.
Sticking The Acrylic Nails
Now that your nails are all prepped and ready, you can finally start putting on your acrylic nails.
Firstly, select a nail tip from your nail supplies that most closely resembles the shape and size of your natural nail. Put some glue on the fake nail and gently apply it on the top of your nail. Gently yet firmly press down on the nail and hold it in place for at least 30 seconds to make sure it sticks just fine, you can wipe off any excess glue with a nail wipe.
Once set you can trim the nail and file it to your preferred length and shape.
Apply The Acrylic Nails Mixture
Now comes the fun bit! Applying the acrylic nails mixture. This might also be the tricky part of this whole ordeal so make sure you follow all the steps we give you.
- Pour both the acrylic liquid and acrylic powder in two individual bowls
- Firstly dip your brush into the liquid, wiping off any excess and then quickly dip it into the powder
- Now with a dabbing motion, apply the mixture on your nails. Starting from the middle of your fake nails, slowly make your way to the tips all the while dabbing it.
- At first, the mixture might be bumpy but worry not! You can buff it out once applied
- In the end, wipe off any excess mixture with the help of a toothpick
Once set buff your nails and even trim them further if you feel there is a need.
Now that your acrylic nails are set you can use any kind of nail art you like! Start by applying a transparent base coat, then go on with the nail colour of your choice, however just make sure that the nail colour or polish you choose is acetone-free, or it will shorten the life of your acrylic nails.
