The 32nd edition of the Olympic Games, the Tokyo Olympics is all but set to begin after a year because of the Coronavirus pandemic. The quadrennial begins on July 23 and runs till August 8.
The Opening Ceremony is due to take place on 23 July. This year, the games will see a whopping 339 events unfold across 33 sports.
With 67 male and 52 female athletes India is sending its most number of athletes, 119, in its official contingent this year. The Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra announced in an interview on Tuesday, July 13 that India will send a 228-strong contingent (including officials) to the Tokyo Olympics.
Indian archers Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari got the feel of the archery facilities at the Yumenoshima Park in their first training session ahead of Tokyo Olympics. Along with archery, shooting will be one of the first big medal events to watch out for India in the first few days of the Games.
Tokyo is Deepika’s third Olympics. The 27-year-old from Ranchi, Jharkhand, is hoping to be third-time lucky in Tokyo.
Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh, who will participate in men's lightweight double scull, had a lengthy first practice session in Tokyo.
