How to Keep your Bathroom Renovation Looking Brand New

| |

Whenever you get items such as a new car or a new phone you usually have that period of time where you treat it ever so carefully like it is your pride and joy. Using protective materials where possible and cleaning it ever so often to keep it looking shiny and new. Much the same for a newly renovated bathroom as can be seen at https://www.mybath.com.au/.  The only real difference is you have a lot more control over who gets to use it!

A brand new bathroom usually won’t require anywhere as much cleaning as your old bathroom, but there are still a few chores that need to be done to keep it looking brand new. When there are little people in your family we can sometimes be a little time poor, so we’ve outlined a few nifty tricks to help take the hassle out of keeping things clean.

1.    Mould build-up on shower curtains

If your bathroom has shower curtains, mould can sometimes build up on parts that don’t get a chance to fully dry out. If you can let it sit free from touching anything when drying including itself you’ll find that mold build-up will be minimal. If it does happen to grow, carefully remove your curtain and throw it in the washing machine. Add half a cup of baking soda with your laundry liquid, and add half a cup of white vinegar to your rinse cycle.  Not only will your curtain come out looking cleaner than ever but the inside of your washing machine will also sparkle!

2.    Unsightly toilet bowl stains

Once again, the use of baking soda and white vinegar comes to the rescue! Mix half a cup of baking soda with the same amount of white vinegar in a small bucket and apply the mixture to your problem areas with a toilet brush. Let the mixture soak in for about 15-20 minutes before you flush. For really stubborn stains either repeat the process, or you can try sprinkling the powder on the area directly and then lightly splash on some white vinegar. You’ll see it react and sizzle the stain away!

3.    Goodbye streaky bathroom mirrors

Keeping your mirror clean is never quite as simple as it should be. It’s also really noticeable when it’s got steaks from water that weren’t cleaned off hard enough. A nifty little trick to get around this and keep your mirror looking pristine is to use shaving cream. By squirting a few small blobs across the mirror and then using a clean dry cloth to wipe it all off.  This will leave an extremely fine layer of shaving cream residue which won’t be visible to the naked eye. In addition to having a streak-free mirror, it will also help prevent your mirror from completely fogging up. Win-win!

4.    Soap scum and water stains on glass shower screens

To minimize the effect of water and soap stains on the inside of your glass shower screens, you literally need to wipe them down every time you shower. This really isn’t an option for many of us, not to mention that keeping a shower squeegee handy in your bathroom isn’t always the prettiest item to look at. A clever hack is to take a cloth and dip it in black tea and then wipe down the entire glass surface. Leaving this for a few minutes will loosen up all the debris stuck to your glass and make it nice and easy to remove with a clean cloth.

5.    Make your window glass sparkle!

Depending on the size of your bathroom you might be lucky enough to have nice big glass windows. Keeping these free of dirt, and fingerprints can be a bit of a pain. Mixing one cup of water to half a cup of isopropyl rubbing alcohol and half a cup of vinegar creates the perfect window spray better than any cleaning products you can buy, and possibly much cheaper too! Leave the spray on the glass for a few minutes and then wipe it down with a clean microfibre cloth. Once you’re done in here don’t throw away any leftover spray. This cleaning spray is also ideal for other glass items such as the outside of a glass shower, a coffee table, or other windows and doors that you have throughout your house.
