Everything you may need to know about a loose vagina.

What is the concept behind a loose vagina?

So when we talk about a loose vagina, we have a number of conceptions and myths in our minds. They can be regarded as virginity, size, depth, anything. For instance, people believe that vaginas can lose their elasticity over time and become loose. However, it is not true at all. There is nothing like a vagina becoming loose in actual life.

In some cultures, women are made to feel ashamed of their sex lives by using the word “loose vagina” for them. However, the term “loose vagina” is not really used to describe a woman who may have too much sex with one partner. Instead, it is often used for women who have more than one sex partner. It, in my opinion, makes no sense.

The vagina is an elastic genital organ in a woman’s body. Vagina being flexible means that it can stretch it out to accommodate different objects that come in, such as a penis, finger, or sex toy. Moreover, it also allows a woman to deliver a baby. The muscles in the vagina contract and relax just like any other normal muscle. Despite these activities, of going in and out, it does not take long for the muscles to go back to their original shape. Some factors can affect the elasticity of your vagina, but not make it loose permanently. You will get to know about them in the passages below.

Having a tight vagina, why isn’t it always good?

A tight vagina can be alarming sometimes. Most significantly, when you’re experiencing pain or discomfort during any penetration. The muscles in the vagina ease themselves when you’re aroused. These muscles won’t relax or stretch if you’re not ready for or interested in sex or sexual activities. You may not know, but it can be a challenge to female sexual health.

The causes of vaginal tightness may include the following:

  • Vaginal atrophy

Vaginal atrophy is more commonly known as vaginal dryness. It is a condition in which your vaginal walls are marked by thinning, drying, and getting swollen. It happens due to hormone changes in the body. It can hamper female sexual health.

  • Vaginal stenosis

Vaginal stenosis is a condition in which a scar forms in the vagina. The scarring causes the vagina to become short and narrow as compared to an average vagina. The cause of scarring may be the radiations from any prior surgery in the area. The chemotherapy treatments can make it even worse.

  • Vaginismus

Vaginismus is a female sexual health condition in which the pelvic floor muscles experience spasms. These spasms can make different activities like having sex, inserting a tampon, inserting a finger, or undergoing a vaginal exam, etc., become nearly impossible.

What are the factors that may affect the elasticity of a vagina?

The elasticity of the vagina can change due to different reasons. There are only two factors that affect the elasticity of the vagina that include delivering a baby or age. With time, the natural processes of aging and giving birth to babies can cause the vagina to become loose minorly. It is not hidden how these two processes change much of your body. However, having sex very often or having sex with multiple sex partners does not cause the vagina to become loose or lose any of its ability to stretch.

Below is a detailed explanation of how these processes cause the vagina to loosen slightly.

Childbirth affects female sexual health in a significant way. The vagina changes itself after it delivers a baby, which is quite normal. The muscles in your vagina have to stretch to make way for your baby to pass the birth canal and come out of it. Soon after childbirth, a woman will probably feel that her vagina has become looser than usual. It is natural. In fact, the vagina starts to contract within a few days from the day of delivery. However, it might not return to its original position ultimately. If a woman has given birth to more than one baby through her vagina, her vaginal muscles are more likely to become weaker. Childbirth is not at all an easy process.

Aging usually causes your vagina to expand somewhat, whether you have had children or not. The aging period begins typically in the 40s. As you will enter your 40s, you may start to notice changes in your vagina and sexual health. It is the result of the hormone changes that your body might be going through. For example, your estrogen levels drop majorly in your perimenopausal stage. The loss of estrogen will give you a less stretchy and flexible as well as a thinner, drier, and less acidic vagina. These symptoms often become noticeable with rage once you will reach menopause.
