It is an alien concept which is fantastic. Please take my word and grill a piece of cheese right away. If you are still not convinced, then keep reading to know more details about the kind of cheeses you can grill.

Mozzarella

Mozzarella is one of the oldest cheeses in the world. It is widely used in all cuisines. We all love pizza. Margarita pizza has a tomato base with mozzarella pieces on top. It is a widely popular delicacy since it is creamy, slightly tart with basil leaves on top. Italian cheese is one of the best if it isn’t evident from its popularity.

It is often confused with burrata and ricotta. They are different in texture and taste. Grilling mozzarella is a slightly challenging task since it has a low melting point. A beginner can easily make a yummy gooey mess out of it. Since it is a creamy cheese, individuals prefer to pair it with cured meats such as Prosciutto Cotto.

Gorgonzola

The cheese originates from a town named Gorgonzola in the north of Italy. A myth on the lines of it being an accident revolves around it. It has blue marks on it and has a distinct scent which can be overpowering for some people. The cheese has a salty, earthy flavour. The texture depends on the ageing process.

It is often mistaken with blue cheese due to its marks. They are made from different kinds of milk and belong to distinct categories. Like mozzarella, it is not grilling friendly due to its softness. Nonetheless, pair it with salsa and you have a fantastic salad.

Halloumi

This goat cheese is not Italian, but it deserves a place on this list since it is a pioneer in the movement of grilled cheese. It is salty, somewhat hard goat cheese. The melting point is high, which makes it the ideal candidate for a grill. But it is not a cheap cheese to acquire.

This cheese is meant to be cooked. Eating it raw is an injustice to it. Grilling or frying it turns it into a golden, soft squeaky slab of heaven. It is a versatile cheese that can be paired with anything from vegetables to cured meats such as salami.
