5 Ways to Find Leaks and How to Fix Them

Leaks are common in homes and businesses, and bring a very large loss, both financially and for the environment. There are many cases in which leaks are very difficult to notice, so it is necessary to always be on the lookout for any signs, and to carry out periodic checks.

Here are five most common types of leaks, how they can be identified and how to fix them for good!

1 – Leaks in the faucets:

The faucet is perhaps the easiest place to check for leaks, as it’s easy to see if it’s dripping or has a trickle of water. If we let the faucet drip, it means that on average we are wasting 46 liters of water a day! If a leak is detected, you can choose to change the entire part or just change the seal you already have.

2 – Toilet leaks:

If your vase has the box attached, the easiest way to identify leaks is by sound. Open the box and listen if you can hear any hissing sounds. If I hear it, there’s definitely a leak in the box. Check key elements to identify where the leak is taking place.

If your vase is conventional, there is a very curious way to test the leak. Take the coffee grounds, and throw it in the vase. It should be deposited at the bottom if everything goes well, but if it moves, it’s a leak alert. In that case, calling a plumber is the quickest way to solve it.

3 – Leaks in the shower

After we turn off the shower, it may drip continuously or at intervals. The easiest way to check is, right after you turn it off, leave a bucket underneath. If after a few hours the bucket has accumulated water, the shower is leaking. This is an easy leak to fix by checking the shower and damper seals, replacing it if necessary.

4 – Leakage in pipes fed by the water tank

To check for leaks in the pipes connected to a water tank, turn off the register and everything that can use water. Check the water level on the box, and after a few hours, check if that level has dropped. If so, it is an indication that there are leaks. To solve this leak, the help of a plumber is essential, as he can be anywhere, from the water tank itself, to some plumbing around the house.

5 – Leakage in pipes fed by the distribution network

To identify if there are leaks of this type, close the valve and all taps connected to your home’s distribution network. Choose a faucet and turn it on, letting all the water flow out. When water stops coming out, place a full glass in the mouth of the faucet. If liquid is sucked into the cup, this is a sign of leakage. Call a plumber to find the focus and solve the problem!

Leaks are a simple problem, but they can do great damage!

Always be on the lookout for signs and make regular checks and maintenance, thus ensuring the smooth operation of your plumbing.
